“Do you want a twin?”  This picture is from the artist/photographer Heidi Lunabba’s amazing project “Twins” and I am really impressed by the work she is doing with kids and youngsters on gender roles and identity. The kids get help with transforming themselves into the opposite sex, and Heidi Lunabba photographs them as both boys and girls. Questions such as “what would I look like, how would I talk, behave, what would be my name..?” are discussed during the workshop. Finally this discussion is taken into schools, where gender roles are a fact. As one participants describes it: “It felt different and somehow freer. It was fun to explore the boy in me.” (The project will be shown in the Finnish Museum of Photography in march.)
